Course Overview and Description: Number of Hours for Continuing Education: 2.0 Hours This course titled MEETING THE MOMENT: Meaningful Engagement with Children and Adolescents with Trauma/PTSD Symptomatology, Approaches for Care, Connection, and Support for Caregivers and Those in Helping Professions has been designed to aide and assist direct providers from all walks of life. These providers include but are not limited to teachers, peer support specialists, clinical counselors, and clinical social workers as well as a variety of other professionals. The overarching goal of this training is to aide such professionals with readily accessible tools that can assist with understanding the foundational tenants of trauma and PTSD symptomatology and how to best help children and adolescents in meaningful ways when their PTSD symptomatology is impacting their quality of life in a variety of environmental settings. This course has been designed to provide detailed educationally based- definitions, clinical and evidence-based treatment approaches/insights, as well as other helpful tools and clinical support on how to support children when their PTSD symptomatology is significantly impacting their quality of life. Name and Qualifications of Instructor: Lauren E. Downey, Doctor of Counselor Education and Supervision and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor in KY Agenda for Meeting the Moment: Meaningful Engagement with Children and Adolescents with Trauma/PTSD Symptomatology, Approaches for Care, Connection, and Support for Caregivers and Those in Helping Professions. 1. Increase awareness of trauma/PTSD in children/adolescents (40 minutes) 2. Identify and understand trauma/PTSD from a clinical standpoint (50 minutes) 3. Learn engagement strategies for children/adolescents (40 minutes) 4. Identify resources and supports for children/adolescents in need (20 minutes)
