Sophia Richey, LPCA

Clinician

Sophia Richey is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) dedicated to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to adolescents and young adults. She earned her Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Kentucky.

Sophia is especially passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced medical trauma. She seeks to help clients process the emotional impact of serious illness, injury, invasive medical procedures, and ongoing health conditions, as well as navigate adjustment to chronic illness. In addition to her interest in medical trauma, Sophia has experience treating anxiety and mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and trauma related to sexual violence. She also enjoys working with young adults, college-aged women, and individuals from rural and Appalachian communities.

Sophia’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. She utilizes evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. Her work emphasizes individualized treatment planning, empowerment, and the creation of a safe environment where clients from all backgrounds and communities can explore their experiences and build resilience.

Outside of her clinical work, Sophia enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, and their corgi, Luna. She loves reading and traveling whenever possible and is proud of her Kentucky heritage, finding inspiration in the resilience and close-knit community of the Bluegrass region.
