Trauma-Informed Coaching & Consultation

Supporting healing, strengthening relationships, and building trauma-responsive communities with TICC Consultation and Coaching Services

Trauma-Informed Consultation and Coaching Services at TICC can provide individuals, families, caregivers, community members, helping professionals, and organizations with practical education, guidance, and strategies for understanding the impact of trauma on emotions, behavior, relationships, communication, and everyday functioning.

Through a supportive, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach, consultation and coaching at TICC help individuals from various aspects of life move beyond asking, “What is wrong?” toward understanding, “What may have happened, what is needed now, and how can we respond in a way that promotes safety, connection, and growth?”

Dr. Downey's Approach

Dr. Downey's Approach

Centering YOU. Supporting YOU.

Dr. Downey grounds her services in the core principles of safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, empowerment, choice, cultural responsiveness, and recognition of lived experience. Consultation is designed to meet people where they are while providing realistic strategies that can be incorporated into homes, workplaces, schools, programs, and community settings.

Trauma-informed consultation and/or coaching at TICC does not require individuals to disclose the details of traumatic experiences. Instead, the focus is on understanding current needs, identifying strengths and resources, increasing knowledge, developing practical skills, and creating environments that support safety and resilience.

Who can benefit from Trauma-Informed Coaching and/or Consultation?

These services may benefit community members, parents and caregivers, educators, mentors, community advocates, nonprofit organizations, healthcare professionals, behavioral health teams, case managers, social-service professionals, youth-serving organizations, faith communities, and individuals seeking greater understanding of trauma-informed wellness and recovery.

Benefits

Consultation & Coaching vs. Therapy

Trauma-informed consultation and coaching services are educational, supportive, and skill-focused services and are not substitutes for psychotherapy, psychiatric care, crisis intervention, or other clinical-based treatments/practices. When an individual's needs extend beyond the scope of consultation or coaching, appropriate clinical or community referrals should be recommended.

The goal is simple at TICC, and that is to increase understanding, strengthen skills, reduce practices that may contribute to retraumatization, and help individuals and communities respond to trauma with greater compassion, confidence, safety, and effectiveness.
